Prime Minister Trudeau's message on National Public Service Week
Hello everyone and happy National Public Service Week.
Canada’s public servants play an important role in making this country a better place – and this week, we get to say thank you.
This year has been one of the most challenging in living memory, and you’ve been right there, working hard to help us all get through these difficult times.
Day in and day out you show up to deliver the essential services we rely on and help tackle the challenges we are facing as a country. So thank you.
Thank you for your dedication, your professionalism, your creativity, and above all, your hard work.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, you’ve quickly mobilized to deliver emergency assistance,
supported enhanced testing and research activities, and made sure that our borders were secure.
You worked hard to bring Canadians abroad back home.
And thanks to you, millions of Canadians have received the help and benefits they need to get through this difficult time and support their families.
But beyond the COVID-19 crisis, you were also there for Canadians when our country was tested by the many difficult events of 2020.
You were there during the historic snowstorm in Newfoundland and Labrador.
And you were there to help the families and loved ones of the victims of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752.
Through it all, you’ve kept the well-being and safety of Canadians at the heart of your work.
So once again, thank you for everything you’ve done and for everything you will do in the weeks and months ahead.
I look forward to continuing to work with you as we restart our economy and build a better country for the benefit of all Canadians.
