Prime Minister Trudeau's message on Easter
Happy Easter, everyone!
This weekend, my family will join Christians, here in Canada and around the world, to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
This is the second consecutive Easter where COVID-19 has forced us to celebrate differently.
That means many of us won’t be gathering with friends and family, and some of us may not be able to attend Easter service.
I know that these activities just aren’t the same over Zoom or on the phone.
But we can still find ways to celebrate and reflect on Jesus’s message of compassion, kindness, and hope — because now those values are more important than ever.
At our house, Sophie and I will still help the kids hunt for Easter eggs.
And as a family, we’ll try to get outside and enjoy the spring weather.
I’m lucky to have the people I love the most living in the same household as me, but I know for many Canadians, this Easter will be another holiday spent alone.
So today, let’s make sure we check in on the ones we love.
And let’s share the hope and joy of this day with those who may be isolated.
My friends, soon this crisis will end, and when it does, we will build a stronger and more resilient country — together.
From my family to yours, I wish everyone celebrating a very happy and blessed Easter.
Stay safe and healthy, everyone.
