Prime Minister Trudeau delivers a message on Diwali
Hello everyone, and happy Diwali!
I’m so pleased to join you and members of Hindu, Sikh, Jain, and Buddhist communities to celebrate the Festival of Lights.
Known as a time to celebrate the victory of light over darkness – of right over wrong.
It is also a time to celebrate the power of hope and knowledge.
And as we work to finish the fight against COVID-19, this message couldn’t be more important.
Every day, your communities make important contributions to our country.
And during the pandemic, you’ve shown the world what care, compassion, and service to one another looks like.
To all the Canadians of Hindu, Sikh, Jain, and Buddhist faiths working on the front lines in health care, providing essential services, and working in local organizations – thank you.
I know many of you will enjoy sweets with your families, share gifts, and donate to charities to celebrate Diwali.
And we should all follow your example of warmth and generosity, as we take care of those around us and celebrate the diversity that makes us strong.
On behalf of our family, Sophie and I wish you a happy Diwali.
Thank you.
