Prime Minister Trudeau’s message on Mid-Autumn Festival
Hello everyone.
And happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
Tonight, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese communities will gather to give thanks for the harvest and the year’s successes.
This is a time for families to get together, to light lanterns, and to share mooncakes.
It’s also a time for us all to celebrate and reflect on the diversity that Canada represents.
Guided by their shared values of respect, generosity, and compassion, Canadians of Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese origin improve life in our communities.
At this time when too many people are affected by division and hatred, this is an opportunity to gather together and to discover the traditions that make our communities richer and more diverse.
As we gather under moonlight tonight, let’s honour the many communities that mark this day – and that have always made Canada stronger.
Once again, happy Mid-Autumn Festival.
Merci, thank you, xie xie, cam on, kamsahamnida, arigatou gozaimasu!
