Prime Minister Trudeau's message on Ramadan
Hello everyone. As-salamu alaykum.
Today, Muslim communities will mark the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
Ramadan is celebrated across the globe and its traditions have been practiced for generations.
But wherever and whenever it’s celebrated, Ramadan has always been a sacred time to gather with family and friends, to pray and fast, and to share meals at iftar.
It’s also an opportunity to reflect on the contributions of your community and the values that guide Muslim Canadians from coast to coast to coast. Values like generosity, putting the needs of others before your own, and leading a life of compassion and service.
Whether you give to charity, volunteer at your mosque, or care for the vulnerable – you are strengthening our communities.
So, thank you, for everything you do to build a stronger and more resilient Canada.
From my family to yours, Sophie and I wish you a blessed and peaceful Ramadan.
Ramadan Mubarak.
