Ottawa, Ontario - June 25, 2016

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke today with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany.

The two leaders reaffirmed the strong and multifaceted ties that exist between their countries.  They discussed bilateral and international issues including trade, the global economy, the European Union and the outcome of the recent United Kingdom European Union membership referendum.

They undertook to continue working together to promote economic growth and prosperity for their citizens and reaffirm their commitment towards the ratification of the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
