Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met today with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, in New York City.

The Prime Minister and Secretary-General discussed a number of international issues, including gender equality, youth, international peace and security, including the situation in Syria, sustainable development and human rights.  The Prime Minister expressed his support for the Secretary-General’s important reform efforts and welcomed his leadership on women’s empowerment and on pursuing gender parity within the United Nations.

Prime Minister Trudeau reaffirmed Canada’s strong commitment to further strengthen its partnership with the United Nations in addressing global challenges.
