The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, congratulated the President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae-in, on his recent election victory.

The two leaders reaffirmed the importance of the long standing bilateral ties that support the Canada – Republic of Korea strategic partnership.  Canada and the Republic of Korea are important commercial partners with a modern free trade agreement and work together towards common goals in multilateral fora.

Both leaders condemned the recent missile tests by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.  Prime Minister Trudeau pledged Canada’s ongoing support to enhance peace and security in the Asia region.
