Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met today with Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in Montréal.

The two leaders reaffirmed Canada and Ireland's shared commitment to diversity and inclusion. They also discussed issues relating to human rights, including protecting women's human and reproductive rights, and the rights of minorities.

The Prime Minister and the Taoiseach discussed the benefits of progressive trade and the ways that Canadian and Irish businesses can benefit from the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which comes into effect on September 21, 2017.

The two leaders exchanged views on multilateral issues on which both countries share a strong commitment, including addressing climate change, and updates on the Brexit and NAFTA negotiations.

The Prime Minister and the Taoiseach marched together in the Montreal Pride Event today.
