Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke today with Sebastian Kurz on the occasion of his swearing-in as Chancellor of Austria.

Prime Minister Trudeau and Chancellor Kurz discussed migration issues, particularly the accommodation of Syrian refugees.

The Prime Minister and Chancellor also discussed the importance of open trade, including ratification of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the European Union.

The leaders also noted the need to coordinate in the second half of 2018 when Austria’s Presidency of the European Union will overlap with Canada’s 2018 Presidency of the G7.
