Today the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, met with Bruce Rauner, Governor of Illinois, during the Prime Minister’s visit to Chicago.
The Prime Minister and the Governor discussed a range of Canada-Illinois issues, including the shared importance of the North American Free Trade Agreement, cross border tourism, and the significance of the energy sector for both economies.
Canada-Illinois bilateral trade was valued at US$41.2 billion (2016) and over 334,300 jobs in Illinois are dependent on trade and investment with Canada. Canada is the number one supplier of energy to Illinois.
