Today Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with President Mauricio Macri of Argentina on the margins of the Summit of the Americas in Lima, Peru.
The two leaders discussed free trade, including the MERCOSUR free trade negotiations currently underway, and committed to explore ways to further strengthen the strong commercial partnership between Canada and Argentina.
Prime Minister Trudeau and President Macri exchanged views on the crisis in Venezuela and how to strengthen democracy in the region. The Prime Minister and the President reaffirmed their intention to ensure that Canada’s G7 Presidency and Argentina’s G20 Presidency complement each other to advance shared priorities such as economic growth and job creation, gender equality and trade that benefits everyone. They committed to continue their close contact on G7 and G20 issues throughout 2018.
