Yesterday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Ambassador of Canada to France, Isabelle Hudon, and Melinda Gates, who are Co-chairs of the G7 Gender Equality Advisory Council. The meeting was also attended by Emmanuel Macron, President of France.
The Prime Minister reiterated his vision in setting up the Council, so that it will provide advice in ensuring that gender equality and gender-based analysis inform all aspects of planning and outcomes of Canada’s G7 Presidency.
The Prime Minister and the Co-chairs also exchanged views on the important relationship between gender equality and economic growth.
Prime Minister Trudeau and President Macon emphasized the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment being maintained as ongoing G7 themes.
