Today, the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, spoke by telephone with President Paul Biya of Cameroon, who sent his best wishes for Canada Day.

The two leaders had an in-depth discussion about the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie’s traditions and its future as a vital representative of the French language and Francophone communities. President Biya expressed appreciation for Secretary General Michaëlle Jean’s visit to Cameroon. The Prime Minister reiterated to President Biya that Canada supports the renewal of Michaëlle Jean’s term as Secretary General of the Organisation.

The two leaders agreed to keep in touch.
