Yesterday, the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, spoke with President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador of Mexico.

The Prime Minister and President-elect discussed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which removes uncertainty and supports stronger investment and exports.

The leaders shared views on the U.S. section 232 steel and aluminum tariffs in effect on exports.

The Prime Minister welcomed the recent visit to Canada by a high-level delegation from the incoming Mexican Administration, and looked forward to working closely with the President-elect as he begins his mandate on December 1.  

The Prime Minister and President-elect committed to stay in close contact.
