Sylvain Ricard

Sylvain Ricard holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the Université du Québec à Hull and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec. He has more than 30 years experience as a senior manager, auditor, and consultant in both the private and public sectors.

Mr. Ricard began his career in the private sector at the Ottawa offices of Ernst & Young before joining Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton. He joined the Office of the Auditor General of Canada in 1998 and served as Assistant Auditor General from May 2007 until November 2018, when he was appointed Deputy Auditor General. 

Mr. Ricard has extensive experience in audit management, strategic planning, and performance measurement across a broad range of federal departments and agencies, as well as public companies, financial institutions, municipalities, and not-for-profit organizations. He has worked with over 100 private sector corporations both in Canada and abroad, spanning a number of industries including high-tech, manufacturing, transportation, and retail sales.
