The Honourable Rosalie McGrath was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2012. She sat as a judge of the Family Division from 2012 to 2015 before being appointed to the General Division. Associate Chief Justice McGrath has served on several court committees and national judicial committees and has presented at local and national legal and judicial education seminars. Prior to her appointment, she had been a partner at Ottenheimer Baker since 2001, and she was an associate at White, Ottenheimer & Baker from 1994 to 2001. Her main areas of practice were corporate and commercial law, energy law, real estate, and wills and estates.
Associate Chief Justice McGrath is a former member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Energy Law Foundation. She was a sessional lecturer at Memorial University from 2002 to 2008 and a member of the Disciplinary Panel of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador. She has been an active volunteer for numerous charitable organizations.
Associate Chief Justice McGrath received a Bachelor of Arts from Memorial University in 1990 and a Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University in 1993. She was admitted to the Bar of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1994.
