Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte of Italy to discuss COVID-19.

Prime Minister Trudeau expressed solidarity with Prime Minister Conte and all Italians as they take extraordinary measures to contain and respond to COVID-19’s health, social, and economic impacts.

The Prime Ministers discussed steps they are taking to protect health and safety, and to promote economic resilience. They agreed on the importance of international coordination in response to the virus.

COVID-19 is a rapidly evolving global challenge. The Government of Canada is working closely with local, provincial, territorial, and international partners to minimize its health, economic, and social impacts in Canada and around the world.
