Darrell Samson was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Sackville—Preston—Chezzetcook in 2015.
Mr. Samson has previously served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence. He has also served as a member of the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs, and has been a member of various other parliamentary committees, associations, and groups.
A proud Acadian, Mr. Samson is an educator, administrator, politician, entrepreneur, and defender of linguistic and cultural minorities.
Early in his career, Mr. Samson was the owner of three successful small businesses in the retail and construction sectors. He also gained experience in the public education sector, including as Superintendent of Schools for the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial, Nova Scotia’s only French school board. He also served as an elected official on numerous boards, including as National President of the Regroupement national des directions générales de l’éducation. Before serving as National President, he was awarded the organization’s Prix Edgar-Gallant for the positive impact he had on French-language education at the provincial and national levels.
Mr. Samson earned a Bachelor of Education and a Master in School Administration from the University of Moncton and a specialization in second language teaching from Sainte-Anne University.
Mr. Samson is married and has three adult children. He has lived in his community for over 30 years.
